ATTENTION FAMILY

I'm giving my farewell lesson in Young Women on Sunday. The lesson is having fun with your extended family. I'm obviously excited about it because we have -shut up!-like THE BEST extended family EVER!! I thought it would be cool to have a sort of slide show going on the computer instead of a "center piece". (Before any of you are impressed by my supposed creativity, let me tell you that I usually skip the centerpiece all together- and half the lesson as well!) If any of you have any pictures that you think would work would you e-mail them to me? mfindlay80@yahoo.com They don't have to have me in them-I like to avoid showing pictures of me at all costs... If you have any glamour shots of yourself, I'd be happy to display them! Thanks in advance to everyone!

MY child was cutest of the month in the second ward primary!

Aren't they cute!?? We had a blast taking pictures. I let them jump and twirl and play while I snapped pictures. When we were done, they both said they had a lot of fun and wanted to know when we get to do it again. We had a blast doing their hair and "dressing up". Girls are so much fun!

What should we call him?

Here's a link to the funniest thing I've read in a long time. (And that's saying something!) It's a list of the family's favorite names in Utah. All of them have been documented and are actual names. Hilarious!

Hollywood here they come!

Aren't they precious! I have the best calling in the whole church. Not only are ALL of our girls awesome, I work with some of the best women in the church! They inspire me to be a better person. Last week we had a lip sync night and my mia maids were the best, if I do say so myself. They did "I will survive" in which they actually got me up on the stage with them! Then they finished the show with "So Long, Farewell" from The Sound of Music. Wonderful coreography girls! Even Simon liked it. This post is dedicated to you!

Have you ever tried those sun pure frozen entrees? Ugh! My dog won't eat 'em!

I have come to the conclusion, it took me long enough I know, that I am weird. There are things I hate that everyone else seems to love. Here are some of them:

1. American Idol. Maybe it's because I'm shy and I feel embarrassed for them, I don't know. I just don't see how it's entertaining to sit for an hour feeling uncomfortable. Not to mention the headache I get from the screechy singing! I know, I know, I'm going to get some nasty comments for this one. People seem to feel personal insult if someone doesn't like the person they're rooting for. Why can't they find someone that can hold a pitch, ANY PITCH, right on key for more than one second long. There's got to be someone out there who can do it! And what's up with the drunk Paula Abdul? How does being drunk on TV make her a good judge of anything?

2. Certain romantic movies from the 60's like Breakfast at Tiffany's and Somewhere in Time. Everyone says they're feel good movies. WHAT!!?? How can a feel good movie leave one feeling so tired and depressed? Shouldn't a movie be entertainment? You know, something to distract one instead of reminding you how horrible the world can be? I'll stick to fairy tale endings and comedies thanks!

3. Bajio, Wingers, Red Robin I like food that doesn't give me heartburn. Or send me to the hospital with indigestion.

Other stuff includes water (I'd rather have milk or juice), running, and I'd rather go to a play than to a movie!

And then there's the stuff I like that makes me even more different.

1. Winter Of course, by this time of year I'm ready for spring but no one can deny the magic of Christmas! I'm ready for snow the day after Thanksgiving. Let it stay until mid-January. I love the soft white world and the way it makes me want to bake pies and read a good book. I like that it gives my kids an excuse to spend time inside together with one another (for a while, anyway). Sometimes in June or July, I'll get an urge to watch Christmas movies and sing carols. I may even make soup or stew when it's 101 degrees outside. (Sorry Jas) And Carly, remember that time we went caroling in June? Good times...

2. A good (brace yourselves) ROMANCE novel! I read them more now that I'm married because I have a hero's face in my mind. Sappy, I know, but true none the less. I enjoy losing myself in England or some other country in some other time period wondering how Jason and I would have met and made it through different challenges. I'm always making stuff up in my head and I would write them down if I was a better writer. I think it's hard to be that kind of novelist because it's so easy to fall into the trap of making it sappy. And a lot do. They trick is to find an author that can pull it off without getting too gooey about the romance.

3. Geneology Specifically doing indexing and arbitration. People are always surprised to find that I do this. They seem to think I wouldn't have time. All I can say is we find time for the things that relax us. I like the orderly, check off the list, meeting my goals, feeling that indexing gives me. If my house is messy, at least I've done SOMETHING productive. We've experienced a lot of disasters while I was absorbed in the work but, I keep doing it anyway!

I also like Science fiction tv shows, hospital and airline food, bathing instead of showering, and Village Inn type restaurants.

Are any of you the same? What makes you different? Let's hear the gory details.

P.S. Bonus points for anyone who can name the movie the quote (the title of my post) is from.

Lay it on me!

I'm supposed to bring a desert to our relief society birthday dinner tomorrow and I can't think what to make. What's your best recipe? Share it. I need it! Chocolate, fruit, coconut, whatever!
