My "Hip" post- here you go Amy!

This picture was taken right after we left a concert. It was hot, an hour and a half past bedtime and time to go. (The concert was only half way through.)

Apparently my posts lately have been lame. Yeah, yeah yeah. I know. Life has been happening to me lately and it seems that the days have been going faster and faster. The big event this week was Ben's field trip to the Thanksgiving point farm. It was a perfect sunny day, and I was in charge of 4 cute kids (including Ben and his "friend" Audrey- more on her later). We rode the bus-which I think the kids thought was the best part. I got some really great pictures. Great pictures. Too bad I had the settings on the camera wrong and I lost all of them as I took them. Just an example of life happening to me. I was released from Young Women this month as well. So far I've really missed it but, I've been sleeping better and I seem to be more organized since then.:)

The baby has become very active. I started feeling him around 3 weeks ago. I don't remember any of my other kids being this active in the womb. He's strong and healthy and right on schedule for development. We say "he" because we are pretty sure that it's a boy but I won't have my ultrasound for a few more weeks. Let's hear some name suggestions...I can't think of anything that fits. My doctor told me I could have 10 more kids if I wanted to. Ha Ha! Funny. I must have looked at him with my jaw at my feet because he sobered up really quickly and said "But not if you don't want to. I was kidding."

Also, some exciting news, Liam's spots are starting to fade. We noticed places where there are no spots and every day the area grows bigger!

Here are some random recent pictures. For you, Amy.

Good Times

As I was driving the kids up to my mother-in-laws the other day, I listened to Ben and Lizzy playing "I Spy" in the back seat and I found myself remembering all of those childhood games we used to play. What would the world be like, for example, without the alphabet game for long car rides? We had an amazing drive where the kids played with their leap pads (thank you more than you know, Mom) and each other THE WHOLE WAY without arguing or crying. Just quiet laughter!!! Here are some of the good old games I can remember playing. TV not included:
1. Hop Scotch
2. Spies
3. That popular "night game" favorite, kick the can
4. P.J.'s This was a game invented by my brother Richard. (If you don't know Richard, he is one of the most creative people I know. Someday, his dreams are going to be made into Broadway musicals and they are going to copyright the brilliant StarTrek home movies he made...)
5. Colored Eggs-does anyone else remember this one or was it something just my family played?
6. Cat in a cradle
7. Chinese (and regular) jump rope. I never got the hang of double Dutch. I seem to remember Amy being really good at it.
8. A good old fashioned tea party with dress-ups. (Carly, I still have that tea set!)
9. Crack the whip-how many concusions and cases of whiplash does this cause per year?
10. Simon says
11. Red Rover. I hated this game. I was always the weak link. I didn't want to hurt my piano hands..or something..oh let's face it ! I'm a wimp and always have been!
11. The fox and the hound (was that what it was called?) We usually played this in the snow.
12. And the most popular of all, school. I used to have my own chalkboard easel.

Ah the purity of childhood. When school was fun, and bedtime was something to avoid for as long as possible!

Dates and Family Togetherness

We needed to get out of the house the other day and had the idea to drive up to the new temple being built on traverse mountain. It was a beautiful drive. We could see all the way from Salt Lake down to Nebo Mountain. What a beautiful place for the Lord to lead the saints to! We are so blessed to live here in the "desert" ! The temples around us are such a blessing and comfort to me and I'm greatful to have such easy access to them and their blessings.

Today my mom took the twins for the night (bless her) so it was just me and the boys. The boys took me two Denny's for lunch. It was a silly time! My kids are such dippers. (If you have no idea what I mean by "dipper" you're not one) Liam couldn't wait for the waitress to bring the ketchup so he dipped his fries in Ben's syrup. Yummy. We sat by a large window and watched a city worker use one of those cherry picker trucks to change the light bulb in one of those big city street lamps. The food was...well...Denny's quality, but we had a lot of fun together!
