Summertime Fun

We've really been enjoying the summer since Jason and Ben have finished school. Our pool finally opened and we've had a lot of fun there. Jane won't get in without hyperventilating but she enjoys putting her legs in and splashing in the puddles. Ben still won't let his head get wet but as long as he has a floater, he gets around really well. Lizzy is a little fish. She likes to jump to Jason in the water and doesn't care if her head goes under. Liam scared us by jumping off the deep end one day with out a floater. All in all, I'd say taking 4 kids to the pool isn't as hard as it was last year and we've really had fun together.

The "New" Grandma

We had a really fun visit with Great Grandma and pa Findlay in Ephraim. Now whenever we say we're going to visit Grandma, the girls ask if it's the new grandma. They had a lot of fun jumping on the little trampoline downstairs and playing with her 1950's Tonka trucks. Of course Grandma couldn't let us leave without feeding us, so she gave us some of the best watermelon I've had this year. The kids each ate about a pound of it. It was fun being back in Ephraim again. The college has changed a lot with the addition of the new music building. A lot of other buildings were knocked down and the dorms have been rearranged. Jason spent most of his time mowing the lawn on Grandpa's new riding mower. I think he had the most fun of all!!

Online games-friends I never knew I had are waiting just a click away...

Hi, my name is Michelle, and I'm an addict. I never used to really go for computer games. (Except for the occasional Snood game.) However, recently I've discovered online versions of board games and I am now hooked. You can probably blame those more than anything else for my lack of posting. I've discovered Ticket to Ride online and recently Scrabble. Jason and I start a game and 3 hours and 4 games later (we can never just play one) we feel all the guilt of an illegal binge. I have now discovered the existence of Settlers of Catan online. Heaven forbid!!! I absolutely have to keep away from that site....probably.....I really should but, someone has to check it out. Right?

When I grow up...

The other day I caught the girls setting this little "desk." They were playing 'Grandma deGaskis Library.' Lizzy was the librarian and Jane came and checked out all the books. Oh how cute.

And by the way, I noticed I haven't featured Ben for a while on the blog. He has been spending every waking minute that he can running around outside enjoying the summer. He did really well in school this year, grew up A LOT and earned a nice break during the summer.

My New Look

"I went to Christophe's, where I usually get my hair done. In his place, was a man named 'Rinaldo'....and when he turned me around to face the mirror, I saw it-HE PERMED ME!!!"

Why are there no "after" pictures you may wonder to yourself. Well, let's just say that the after pictures would have looked worse than the above "during" picture which, I think, says quite a lot. I took one look at my reflection, checked my tears, and asked Jason if we could buy some straightening solution. The perm was done really well, it just made me look 13 instead of 17 and it had to go. So, now I know what I look like with a perm and I won't try it again. Maybe I won't covet curly hair as much now....

Bad hair experiences? Share them here. I'll be very empathetic.

So, I've been tagged by Becky and since I haven't posted in a while, I figured it would work to tide the 3 people who actually read my blog over until I can post again. List 3 joys, 3 fears, 3 goals/obesessions, and 3 random facts about yourself. I tag all of my Tregaskis cousins.

JOYS:
  1. My family. There are times when I feel so overwhelmed by their needs and wants and schedules but, their smiles and hugs are what get me through everything that comes along.
  2. Nature. From camping in the mountains to just letting the kids run outside, I really enjoy the beauty that nature has to offer.
  3. My Saviour. I was going to say something else because this sounded so like the "world peace" answer but He really is the core of all of my joy and happiness.
FEARS:
  1. Losing a child. A miscarriage is an awful ordeal to experience. I can't imagine what losing a child I have held and seen would be like.
  2. Fire and/or carbon monoxide poisoning. I know. I picture my kids not being able to get out. I love that our condo has giant windows that the kids can get to.
  3. Dentist appointments. I am soooo tense through the whole ordeal. I nearly have a panic attack if I have to get a cavity filled. I think it goes back to having braces as a teenager. I went 3 times to get them removed and instead had new appliances added to the old ones.
GOALS:
  1. Finish my degree. Someday when I'm done with night feedings and potty training, I'll go back to school. Now if I could only decide what on Earth I want to major in....
  2. Keep up with summer violin practicing and review for Ben. It's our special time together while the girls are resting.
  3. Be more patient about the messes my kids make so they feel free to play. I guess it all comes down to PATIENCE.
OBSESSIONS/COLLECTIONS:
  1. My husband. Giggle giggle
  2. KFC's mashed potatoes or the temple cafeteria food.
  3. Books
RANDOM FACTS:
  1. I went into labor with all 4 of my kids with in 10 hours of gardening...I think I'll plant some bulbs in mid-September.
  2. I want to go on "What Not to Wear" so I can get help accessorizing and dressing like an adult with my body type.
  3. I can read French but I can't speak it or really understand it when it is spoken. (When I speak Spanish, I sometimes have a French accent!)
